"I am walking wet today"--my pastor
Huh? What's that mean?
I think it's one of the best snippets I have ever taken away from a sermon in a long time. Our pastor was sharing that a person he knew reminded himself every morning in the shower that he was a baptized person. He told himeself each day that "I am walking wet today". What a cool way to start the day! Every morning reminding yourself that you belong to God completely and letting the water do more than wash your body. It can be a reminder of your baptism--a reminder that you are marked as one of God's own people.
What's that got to do with Korea? Everything--because since Tulip Time is now over, Korea is all that's on my mind! And one of the things that I have been praying about is that I work hard, enjoy myself, but also let Christ's love shine through. So each morning I am going to shower and remind myself that "I am walking wet today".
I remember how tough this trip was for us--a new culture, traveling in close quarters with people we didn't know, food that was very strange, and emotions running rampant. It was also a fantastic trip, mainly because of the staff on tour. They helped us to embrace the culture, make new friends and try new foods! I have also been told that this will be the "hardest work you will ever do" by the head of the tour group. She also stated it would be the most rewarding.
The year we went there were many people who were not content with anything. I think they went on this trip with hopes of being able to reconcile all their conflicts and confusion they may have over the issues that all members of the adoption triad go through. A twelve day trip can't resolve anything, and most likely will bring up more confusion.
So I want it to be a time when I really show that I am a marked person. A person who really cares about the members of the tour and treats them with respect. I really think that if I start out with reminding myself of my baptism, of what Christ has done for me, and continue to "walk wet" all day--I will be able to honor God through my job. Very cool, huh?
While I am there, email me and ask me if I am "walking wet."
Yep, Mikey J. has the cutest little tablet computer for me that I am learning
to use, and I hope to be able to post once in a while. But for sure, I will be checking my email's. (Well, let me qualify that--I will if the internet connection really works!)
Thanks again for reading my ramblings.
